Sexual Conviction Record Check

Implemented on 1 December 2011, the Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) Scheme enables employers to assess the suitability of applicants in doing child-related work and work relating to mentally incapacitated persons or MIPs for abbreviation (including persons with intellectual disability). We also adopt this administrative scheme in our recruitment process.

The process would be as follows:

  1. When engaging persons to undertake work that requires frequent contact with children or MIPs, we request the prospective employees to undergo the check. Applications for the check should be submitted by the prospective employees voluntarily to the SCRC Office (14/F, Arsenal House, Police Headquarters, 1 Arsenal Street, Wan Chai, Hong Kong) of the Hong Kong Police Force. Documentary proof of possible employment related to children or MIPs should be disclosed when applying SCRC.
  2. Employer(s) authorized by an applicant will be able to access the check result through the Auto Telephone Answering System (ATAS) by entering the first four digits of the applicant’s Hong Kong Identity Card number together with a random 14-digit checking code. The prospective employee/part-time coach can provide the valid 14-digit checking code (within 12 months upon the record is upload to the ATAS) to the Association provided that they have applied SCRC before.
  3. The Association will record down a 10-digit transaction number for reference and may check the result again for its validity before completing the recruitment process.
  4. If the applicant has conviction record(s) against the specified list of sexual offences, the Association will ask the applicant about the record directly and take it into consideration of his/her suitability of the work.
